Abraham Benrubi, The Booming Voice of the Dawn of the Unbound Gods audiobooks
How did you get involved with Quest’s End Whiskey?
I became involved with Quest’s End Whiskey through my 20 years of gaming and fellowship with Sir Matthew Lillard. Matt knows of my very deep love of Nicol Williamson’s one-man tour de force recording of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” and suggested I take a crack at the audio versions of the Quest’s End stories!
How did you approach doing the audiobook for Dawn of the Unbound Gods?
Each chapter of the audiobook for Dawn of The Unbound Gods has presented different challenges: multiple character voices, reading and re-reading lines until they fit the tone. This is a great story of heroic persons doing epic things, and I try to convey that whilst keeping it grounded.
You’ve played every beastie and baddie imaginable on TV, in movies, and in video games. Any favorites?
I have been very fortunate to play a ton of weirdos over the course of my acting career! A couple of favorite, who would have enjoyed the fine Whiskey of Quest’s End, would be Olaf the Troll from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and the killer Santa-bot from Christmas, Bloody Christmas.
How long have you been playing D&D, and what character(s) do you play?
I have been playing D&D (and many other amazing RPG’s) since 1984. That’s 40 years of gaming! It’s great to see so many folks dive in and enjoy the uniquely creative experience of gathering your friends for adventure.
You read a ton. Any fantasy or horror authors you recommend?
There are so many authors to recommend! For horror, I love everything from Apocalypse Party, especially the works of BR Yeager. For fantasy, I always recommend Scott Lynch’s “Gentlemen Bastard” series, starting with “The Lies Of Locke Lamorra”.
What’s been your favorite Quest’s End release so far?
My favorite Quest’s End Whiskey so far, by flavor, is Rogue. But I have to say, I was impressed immediately by Paladin, and the great bottle design! The art and story add to the atmosphere of the whiskey and it’s nice to have a glass while reading along!
